The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is a national community-driven breast cancer charity. It is the largest charitable funder of breast cancer research in Canada and plays a comprehensive role across the breast cancer spectrum — from education and prevention to research and peer support.
Since our inception in 1986, CBCF has invested over $360 million in breast cancer research; funding more than 1400 scientific grants.
Our investments have led to progress in breast cancer prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment and care, and have helped to reduce breast cancer mortality rates by 44 percent since their peak in the mid-1980s and increase the five year survival rate to 88 percent.
Our goal is to reduce the number of people diagnosed with breast cancer, reduce mortality for those who develop the disease, and improve quality of life for those affected.
CBCF is pleased to offer emotional support and information to ensure that nobody faces breast cancer alone. Support and information is available free of charge to anyone affected by breast cancer or at increased genetic risk for developing the disease; this includes women and men living with a breast cancer or high-risk diagnosis, as well as their families, friends and caregivers- at any stage of their experience.
